It is a little while since I reported on my acts of kindness. I’ve been away for a couple of weeks and enjoyed many things including a warm welcome from Friends in Dorset when we attended meeting. The photo is from the special garden of the beautiful and historic Quaker Meeting House in Bridport, Dorset, UK.

I thought I would start with recording some more of the times I have been offered kindness by others – these very recently. For example; being offered a delicious vegetarian meal by a dedicated carnivore, being offered lifts from strangers for a hospital appointment because I couldn’t drive, being given a massage when I really needed it, receiving a wonderful hug from my 3 year-old grandson, being able to express my concerns about something to someone who really listened well, being given positive feedback about my involvement in a challenging work situation … and much more. And so what have I done? I’ve:

  1. Helped someone struggling with retrieving pre-paid tickets from a machine at a station, although we concluded the machine was not working!
  2. Actively choose take-out coffee offered in paper cups that can be recycled.
  3. Edited someone’s work – English is not their first language.
  4. Encouraged someone who has lost confidence and seems to have forgotten their many qualities and what makes them special.
  5. Invited someone new to town to meet up for a cuppa.

I will report on more soon …

In the meantime please take a look at QSA at www.quakersocialaction.org.uk and decide if you’d like to help me support its work that reaches out across the UK through its anti-poverty initiatives and campaign work.
