Over the past few weeks I have witnessed many acts of kindness, and I have carried out a number myself. However I am aware that although I am a vegetarian I do not often go out of my way to show kindness to animals, birds, ants, reptiles … I have tried encouraging birds to our garden without success – clearly they have better options elsewhere. Of course it could be something to do with the three cats that venture through our garden (I’ve no idea where they come from); or perhaps the sparrowhawk that nests in the hospital grounds nearby? So what should I do this autumn? Offer food again, and if so what kind? Give to a bird charity? Something else? Well, in the meantime here are some more of my acts of kindness:

81.Told a father how thoughtful his young son had been

82. Helped a man with severe disabilities to eat his meal and get to a meeting; and was warmed by his patience and generosity

83. Sent a thank you note to the organisers of a great coming together week

84. Made someone laugh

85. Gave an extra-large tip for some great service.

If you have already, thank you for sponsoring me. I am also grateful for all the encouragement I’ve received. And of course, if you would like to help me raise money for Quaker Social Action please take a look at  www.quakersocialaction.org.uk and decide if you’d like to help me support its work that reaches out across the UK through its anti-poverty initiatives and campaign work.
